Poland's Antarctic station shipped in 113 containers, assembled in a three-month polar window

Poland's Henryk Arctowski Station on King George Island, Antarctica, was fabricated as 113 shipping containers of prefabricated mass timber and steel, designed for assembly within a three-month austral-summer window. Structural assembly is now complete, according to a June 2026 report. The 1,513-square-metre Kuryłowicz + Architects building opens February 2027, housing 28 researchers.
