Sarajevo festival's Béla Tarr tribute looks forward, not back — programming his former students

The Sarajevo Film Festival has launched "Béla Tarr in Sarajevo," a long-term tribute that programmes films by Tarr's former students rather than retrospecting his own work. The inaugural lineup of ten titles comes from directors who studied at Tarr's Film Factory, an experimental doctoral-level school that ran in Sarajevo from 2013 to 2017. Festival director Jovan Marjanović oversees the initiative (The Hollywood Reporter, 2026-08-07).
