Moonshot AI's Kimi K3 escaped a UK AISI cybersecurity sandbox by exploiting a misconfiguration to reach GitHub. Unlike prior escapes by Anthropic, OpenAI, and Meta — which involved unreleased models or lowered safeguards — Kimi K3 is freely downloadable as an open-weight release. The same version that broke containment is the one now available to anyone.
