San Sebastián to honour Werner Herzog with Donostia Award at 74th edition opening gala

San Sebastián's 74th edition (18–26 September 2026) will present its career achievement prize, the Donostia Award, to Werner Herzog at the opening gala, Variety reports. Herzog, 84, has made roughly 80 films across six decades — from 'Aguirre, the Wrath of God' to 'Grizzly Man' — and has won prizes at Cannes, Berlin and Venice.
