Locarno premieres Heise's final documentary credited to collaborators who completed it after his death

Thomas Heise died in 2024 before finishing 'Übergang,' a portrait of Berlin's Schönhauser Allee. Longtime collaborators Peter Badel and Chris Wright completed the film from Heise's personal archive and are credited as co-directors. Locarno screened it out of competition on 7 August 2026 (Variety) — a rare festival premiere of a work finished after its originating director's death.
