Sony and Universal sue Musi, a YouTube-ripping streaming app, in Canada

Sony Music Group and Universal Music Group are commencing legal proceedings in Canada against Musi, an app that pulls music from YouTube without authorisation. Coordinated by IFPI and Music Canada, the labels allege Musi circumvents YouTube's technical protections to serve copyrighted content with fewer or no ads. Musi was removed from Apple's App Store in September 2024 but remains usable by existing installers.
