PS5 boxes now warn: new PlayStation games go digital-only from January 2028

New PS5 packaging carries a sticker: from January 2028, newly released PlayStation games will be sold in digital format only, ending disc production. Pre-2028 discs remain playable. The same notice appears on Sony's website and European Amazon listings. YouTuber Behind the Games first spotted the sticker on August 6, 2026. Sony CFO Lin Tao acknowledged "strong views" and said the company would proceed "cautiously."
