Munich court rules Suno infringed GEMA copyrights; WMG's Kyncl says ruling backs licensing strategy

A Munich Regional Court ruled on 31 July 2026 that AI music firm Suno infringed copyright by training on GEMA-represented compositions. WMG CEO Robert Kyncl told analysts the ruling "effectively confirmed the Warner Music Group contract and strategy" of pushing AI partners toward licensed models. Suno signed with WMG in November 2025 but has yet to launch a fully licensed training model.
