Screen Gems outbids Amazon and Searchlight for horror package 'Mime'

Screen Gems, Sony's genre label, has acquired "Mime," a supernatural horror package starring John David Washington with Nikyatu Jusu directing, after outbidding Amazon and Searchlight Pictures, Deadline reports on 6 August 2026. Stephen Herman wrote the screenplay. Jusu's "Nanny" became the first horror film to win Sundance's Grand Jury Prize. "Mime" is in active development; no dates are set.
