FIFA scraps World Cup sell-off after UEFA's 55 nations threaten boycott

FIFA withdrew its plan to sell a stake in the World Cup and other competitions to private investors after UEFA and all 55 member nations voted unanimously to boycott FIFA tournaments until the proposal was pulled. UEFA called the plan "unequivocally" rejected in a 30 July statement. FIFA reversed course the next day.
