Fox holds firm on NFL rights, dropping earlier push to revise 2029 deal

Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch said on August 6, 2026 that Fox "will not be making any amendments" to its NFL rights deal, which runs through the 2029 season. The Sunday-afternoon package is valued at $22.3 billion, per Sportico. In March 2025, Murdoch called the league's 2029 opt-out an "opportunity" to "deepen its relationship" with the NFL. He has now reversed that stance.
