Microsoft's Call of Duty ports earned Sony an estimated US$130 million in platform fees
Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 — now owned by Microsoft — sold an estimated 11.2 million copies on PlayStation since their unannounced 9 July release, per Alinea Analytics. Sony's 30 percent platform cut on those sales amounts to roughly US$130 million, paid to Microsoft's chief console rival. The ports exist because Sony never made the PS3 originals backwards-compatible.
