AFL confirms Geelong concussion waiver breached rules but issues no sanction

Geelong required a player with a concussion history to assume all legal risk for further head injuries. The AFL confirmed the clause was removed on 6 August 2026 and that "any proposed arrangements that impact on a player's legal rights" are not sanctioned. No sanction was issued. CEO Steve Hocking acknowledged the AFLPA was not involved in drafting the clause.
