Nine new industry-aligned school subjects announced for 2029

The government has announced nine new industry-aligned secondary school subjects, including Next-Gen manufacturing, Applied intelligent systems, and Health services and care. They will be introduced in 2029, when a new qualification replaces NCEA. Education Minister Erica Stanford and Finance Minister Nicola Willis announced the changes at Meridian Energy's Mākara windfarm. Industry skills boards will develop the subjects.
