King Charles will not live at Buckingham Palace after £369 million reservicing completes in 2027

Officials confirmed in June 2026 that King Charles will not live at Buckingham Palace once the Reservicing Programme — a ten-year overhaul of essential services costing £369 million — completes in 2027. The King will continue to base himself at other royal residences. The programme began in April 2017 and has authorised and contracted commitments totalling £52.6 million at 31 March 2026.
