UEFA loses confidence in Infantino after FIFA privatisation plan collapses

Gianni Infantino's plan to sell FIFA's commercial and event operations to private investors — the FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal — has collapsed after fierce internal opposition. UEFA called it "a shabby, back room, opaque deal" and said it has lost confidence in the president. Secretary general Mattias Grofstrom told staff the situation was "a sad and reproachable series of events."
