
AP Projects El-Sayed Wins Michigan Democratic Senate Primary
The Associated Press projected Abdul El-Sayed the winner of Michigan's Democratic U.S. Senate primary at 6:54 a.m. on August 5, 2026, with about 99% of votes counted. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) told NPR the result shows progressive organizing is translating into primary wins. More than one million voters cast ballots before Election Day.
