Saregama Uses AI to Build Music Videos for 1960s–70s Film Songs at $740 Each

Saregama, India's oldest record label, is using generative AI to create music videos for hundreds of 1960s–70s film songs whose audio rights it owns but whose original film footage it never acquired. MD Vikram Mehra told an August 4 earnings call each AI video costs roughly INR 70,000 ($740). The original footage was never sold to labels because no market existed for it then.
