Translator cited as Nolan's Odyssey influence calls the film 'emotionally empty'
Emily Wilson, whose 2017 translation of The Odyssey was acknowledged as an influence on Christopher Nolan's adaptation, called the film 'visually stunning, emotionally empty' in a 4 August 2026 Atlantic op-ed titled 'A Trojan Horse Is Supposed to Have Humans Inside It.' Wilson had already called the screenplay 'abysmal' in a July 2026 London Review of Books review, per Variety.
