Three Senior Norwegian Royals Hospitalized in 2026

Norway's royal family has faced three major health crises in 2026. Princess Astrid, 94, King Harald's sister, was hospitalized with heart failure in May and received a temporary pacemaker. Queen Sonja, also 94, was treated for heart failure the same month. Crown Princess Mette-Marit was discharged in mid-July after a lung transplant for chronic pulmonary fibrosis. Astrid has since been seen shopping in Oslo.
