Bologna Film Archives Founder Gianluca Farinelli Named Artistic Director of Italy's David di Donatello Awards

The board of the Fondazione Accademia del Cinema Italiano approved the appointment on 5 August 2026 (Variety; David di Donatello Academy). Farinelli founded the Bologna Film Archives and its restoration lab, and runs Il Cinema Ritrovato, Bologna's festival of restored and rediscovered cinema. He succeeds Piera Detassis, whose mandate expired. RAI executive Silvia Calandrelli was named president the prior week, splitting the two roles.
