Game Freak's first major non-Pokémon IP, Beast of Reincarnation, launches to mixed reviews

Game Freak's Beast of Reincarnation, a brand-new action RPG directed by Kota Furushima, launched on August 4, 2026 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox Game Pass. The game carries a "Mixed" rating on Steam and a three-star Eurogamer review. Game Freak has announced a patch next week addressing camera, text size, performance defaults and bug fixes, with longer-term story-pacing work planned.
