Disney CEO concedes 'Mandalorian' and 'Moana' underperformed, 'Moana' projected to lose $100 million in theatres

On Disney's Q3 fiscal 2026 earnings call, CEO Josh D'Amaro acknowledged 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' and the live-action 'Moana' remake underperformed. 'Mandalorian' reached $345 million worldwide; 'Moana' earned $262 million worldwide against a roughly $250 million production budget and stands to lose about $100 million in theatres, Variety reported. D'Amaro cited merchandise, parks, and streaming as offsetting value.
