Louvre Lends 26 Islamic Art Works to Smithsonian in Washington, DC

The Louvre in Paris is lending 26 works from its Islamic art collection to the Smithsonian's National Museum of Asian Art in Washington, DC. "From the Louvre: Masterpieces of Islamic Art" runs 26 September to 18 January 2027, the only venue. Several works, including the 10th–11th-century "Lion of Monzón," have never been shown in the United States. NMAA director Chase F. Robinson called some "absolutely the most iconic" in the Louvre's collection.
