Eala Wins First WTA Title, Bageles World No. 3 Pegula in Final Set

Alex Eala claimed her first WTA Tour title at the Citi Open in Washington, beating World No. 3 Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-4, 6-0. Ranked 28th, Eala lost the opening set, then broke Pegula to take the second and ran away with the third — a 6-0 bagel, a set in which the opponent fails to win a single game, against a top-three player. The 20-year-old Filipino had lost her only previous WTA final at Eastbourne in 2025.
