Canada's foreign-influence registry is now live

Canada's foreign-influence transparency registry took effect August 4, 2026. Anyone working with a foreign entity to influence Canadian politics or government must register — within 60 days for existing arrangements, 14 for new ones — or face fines or prosecution. The commissioner's office reviews filings before they go public.
