Neil Fachie confirms permanent retirement at 42 after Glasgow double gold

Neil Fachie, 42, has confirmed permanent retirement from elite Para-cycling. Coming out of retirement for Glasgow 2026, he won two tandem golds with pilot Aaron Pope — a Commonwealth record in the 1,000m time trial and sprint gold despite a crash — bringing his career total to seven. Fachie said finding the drive had become too great a hurdle. Wife Lora Fachie also announced her retirement.
