Guggenheim Abu Dhabi appoints inaugural director ahead of December 2026 opening

Valerie Hillings was named inaugural director and CEO of Guggenheim Abu Dhabi on 4 August 2026, according to The National and Gulf News. The Frank Gehry-designed museum, announced in 2006 and delayed two decades at roughly US$1 billion, is scheduled to open 11 December 2026. Hillings previously served as curator on the project from 2009 to 2018.
