Lionsgate builds 'Housemaid' franchise from McFadden's four-book series

Lionsgate is building a female-driven feature franchise from Freida McFadden's 'Housemaid' novels, Deadline reports. The studio optioned a trilogy plus a fourth short-story entry; McFadden has already written a third novel, 'The Housemaid Is Watching'. The first film grossed $400 million globally against a $35 million budget, per Variety. Sequel 'The Housemaid's Secret' opens 17 December 2027.
