Streaming residuals fall for the first time, WGA data shows

Writers received $330.7 million in streaming residuals in 2025, down from $346.6 million in 2024 — the first nominal decline since the category began, according to a WGA report issued in July. Residuals are payments writers earn when their work is reused or re-aired on streaming platforms. The 2023 strike centred on this issue.
