Final Fantasy 14 on Switch 2 requires a separate subscription, even for existing players on other platforms

Final Fantasy 14 launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on 4 August 2026. The Switch 2 version requires a separate subscription regardless of whether a player already pays on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox. Square Enix is offering a 50 percent discount on the Switch 2 subscription fee for players with an active subscription on another platform. Subscription fees are also waived for roughly one month after release.
