Taylor takes Turkish refereeing role after betting scandal engulfed 65% of officials

Anthony Taylor, 47, has been appointed director of elite refereeing for the Turkish Football Federation, one month after retiring from a 20-year career that ended at the 2026 World Cup. His arrival comes ten months after a five-year investigation found that 371 of 571 match officials in Turkey had betting accounts. TFF president Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu said: "We have to clean up whatever dirt there is."
