San Sebastián to dedicate 20-film retrospective to José Giovanni

The 74th San Sebastián Film Festival, running 18–26 September 2026, will dedicate a 20-feature retrospective to French director, screenwriter and novelist José Giovanni (1923–2004), Variety reports. The programme spans 1960–2001, pairing his 15 directed features with eight screenplays written for Becker, Melville, Sautet, Deray, Enrico and Verneuil. The Basque Film Archive and Spanish Film Archive co-organise; a bilingual study accompanies the screenings.
