Ellison Says CNN, Not Market Share, Drives Opposition to Paramount-WBD Merger

Paramount CEO David Ellison, in a New York Times essay published August 4, 2026, named CNN as the root of opposition to the proposed $110 billion Paramount–Warner Bros. Discovery merger. Twelve state attorneys general and the Writers Guild of America have filed antitrust lawsuits; a trial is expected late 2026 or early 2027. The Justice Department cleared the deal in June 2026.
