Spotify's AI fan-made remix tool extends to independent labels via Merlin deal

Spotify signed a licensing deal with Merlin — the digital licensing body for independent labels — on August 4, extending its AI-powered fan-made covers and remixes tool beyond Universal Music Group's catalogue for the first time. The tool launches as a paid Premium add-on. Sony Music, Warner Music and Believe have not announced agreements.
