
Swimmer Archie Goodburn pleads on BBC for brain cancer research funding after Glasgow 50m breaststroke final
Archie Goodburn, diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer two years ago, swam the 50m breaststroke final at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and missed a medal. Breaking down in tears during BBC interviews, he appealed directly to Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham: "Give us a chance to fight for our lives." Goodburn said his ability to compete stems from medical advances that have not gone far enough.
