FFmpeg 9.0 Adds Vulkan GPU Decoding for More Video Codecs

FFmpeg 9.0 "Lei" shipped August 4, 2026, about four months after 8.1. It adds Vulkan-based decoding for APV video and Apple ProRes RAW, extending a GPU-compute strategy started in the 8.x series. Vulkan provides a vendor-neutral acceleration path, unlike codec-specific hardware blocks such as VAAPI, D3D12, and AMF that earlier releases relied on.
