Australian Cyclist, 82, Dies Day After 3,300-Mile Charity Ride

Bob Montgomery, 82, died peacefully and unexpectedly one day after cycling 3,300 miles across Australia from Broome to Bowral with his 18-year-old grandson. His wife, Jenny, was beside him. The six-week "One Last Ride" — his sixth such effort — raised about A$105,000 for Motor Neurone Disease NSW, a charity supporting people with the degenerative nerve condition.
