
Premier League managers last 20 months on average — yet the data says sacking barely helps
The average Premier League manager lasts about 20 months. Eight clubs start 2026-27 with new bosses after 11 changes last season. But research in the Financial Times and by Twenty First Group says player quality and spending predict results better than swapping managers. Since 1992, only six bosses have won the title in their first season.
