David 'Z' Rivkin, Minneapolis Sound Producer Who Worked With Prince, Dies at 78

Grammy-winning producer David "Z" Rivkin died at 78 in a Burbank, California hospital from complications of an infection, his brother Bobby Z confirmed to the Minnesota Star Tribune. Rivkin produced Lipps Inc.'s Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 "Funkytown" (1980), won two Grammys for his work with Etta James, and worked with Prince from his earliest studio sessions in 1976.
