Billy Luther is adapting his 2007 documentary Miss Navajo into a stage musical, with singer-songwriter Raye Zaragoza writing songs and lyrics, Variety reported on 3 August 2026. The project is in development. The documentary premiered at Sundance and aired on PBS Independent Lens in 2007. Luther's mother was crowned Miss Navajo in 1966. Zaragoza is of Akimel O'otham descent.
