Princess Isabella, 19, daughter of King Frederik X, began 11 months of conscription with the Guard Hussar Regiment in Slagelse. She declined the salary and daily allowances fellow conscripts receive — roughly 190,000 kroner ($29,243) over the term. The Danish Royal House confirmed the decision to the newspaper B.T. Her brother, Crown Prince Christian, made the same choice during his service.
