Monty Roberts, 'horse whisperer' endorsed by Queen Elizabeth II, dies at 91

Monty Roberts, the California trainer known as the "horse whisperer," died on 1 August 2026 at his farm, aged 91. In 1989 the Queen Mother invited him to demonstrate at Windsor Castle; she was moved to tears, opening a decades-long friendship with Queen Elizabeth II over their shared love of horses. His family announced the death with "profound sadness."
