Dzeko, 40, extends Schalke deal and returns to the Bundesliga

Edin Dzeko has signed a one-year contract extension at Schalke, keeping the 40-year-old striker at the club through the 2026-27 Bundesliga season. Dzeko joined from Fiorentina in January 2026 and scored six goals in 11 Bundesliga 2 appearances to help Schalke win promotion. He last played in Germany's top flight for Wolfsburg in 2010-11 before his £27m move to Manchester City.
