Samsung forecasts memory shortage to worsen through 2027, no relief until 2028

Samsung, which controls roughly a third of global memory supply, said in its Q2 2026 earnings briefing that the chip shortage will worsen through 2027 and not ease until at least 2028. Most manufacturing capacity is booked for High Bandwidth Memory used in AI datacentres, leaving little for the consumer-grade chips in phones, consoles and PCs.
