Petition demands Glasgow School of Art surrender Mackintosh Building to independent body

Conservation architect Ruairidh Moir launched a petition on 3 August 2026 to transfer ownership of the fire-damaged Mackintosh Building from Glasgow School of Art to an independent organisation for "faithful restoration and reinstatement." The building, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, burned in 2014 and again in 2018 during a £35 million restoration. The school would lease it back. The petition has 5,406 signatures; target is 100,000.
