West Midlands named UK's eighth official film and high-end TV production hub

The British Film Commission named the West Midlands the UK's eighth official production hub for scripted inward investment in film and high-end TV on 3 August 2026, per Variety. The region — home to Birmingham — joins London, Manchester, Cardiff, Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, Leeds and Liverpool. The UK production sector contributed £5.8 billion ($7.8 billion) to the national economy in 2025.
