Wales becomes first nation to withdraw backing for Infantino's FIFA re-election

The Football Association of Wales has withdrawn its support for Gianni Infantino's re-election as FIFA president for the 2027–2031 term, the first national federation to do so publicly. The FAW cited failures across "good governance, processes, leadership, values, stakeholder management, communications and sound judgement" after Infantino scrapped plans to sell stakes in FIFA competitions to private investors. UEFA and Concacaf have also criticised FIFA's leadership.
