Deputies ignored blood and left crime scene unsealed in Nancy Guthrie kidnapping, WSJ finds

A Wall Street Journal investigation published 2 August 2026 found Pima County sheriff's deputies dismissed dried blood on Nancy Guthrie's porch as unrelated and failed to seal the property. Reporters, livestreamers and delivery drivers walked through the area. DNA testing later confirmed the blood was Guthrie's. The mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie was kidnapped from her bed on 1 February.
