Tencent cancels mobile Story of Seasons after Marvelous ends six-year partnership

Marvelous voted on 31 July 2026 to end its capital and business alliance with Image Frame Investment, Tencent's subsidiary, which held a 20 percent stake bought in May 2020 for roughly £48 million (US$65 million). Tencent cancelled the mobile Story of Seasons game in development since March 2019, citing profitability. The original licensing agreement survives the split.
